News about Anthony Melillo, who has been # 1 on The Alive with Clive Top 20 Chart since its inception

Here’s the text, with minor edits [and my comments in square brackets], of an email I received on October 9, 2008, from Joanne Melillo, Anthony Melillo’s Mom, with the latest news about Anthony.  It will give you a sense of how life is unfolding for him now that he has just released his debut CD, Just Gettin’ Started:

"Just wanted to bring you up-to-date on Anthony's journey...

"Tomorrow, 10/10, he goes in to record "Justin's Song," the one he wrote in memory of his classmate and fellow musician, who passed the first week of school this year.  Joining him will be Steve Geller, bassist, who has toured with Davey Jones & The Monkees and other famous bands and Tony Woodroffe, percussion, from Noyz Boyz Entertainment, who was recently featured on Alive with Clive.  Anthony is producing Justin’s Song to use as a springboard to make a positive impact on his peers.  God willing he will be able to join together with a local organization that has programs to teach and support youths and teens at risk and their parents, such as the "Alliance for Safe Kids."

"He would like all proceeds from this single to go toward this effort and possibly set up a scholarship fund in Justin's memory.  He is willing to enter into a partnership with a not-for-profit group so he wouldn't have to create one on his own.  [If you know of any groups who may want to tap into this young, up-and-coming artist who could relate to kids on their level in order to help get their message out to the public, please let me know by sending an email to me at high5clive@hotmail.com or by calling me at (914) 274-8280.  Any ideas or contacts you may have would be most welcome.]

"Also, on Monday, October 13th, he will be playing a few of selections from his debut album at the 2008 Apar Golf Classic Reception & Awards Dinner being held at The Traveler's Rest Restaurant off Route 100 in Ossining.  This fundraiser will benefit the Harrison Apar Field of Dreams Foundation, the Youth Athletic Club and the PBA.  Bruce Apar, Chase Media Group, Publisher, North County News, is hosting this exciting and fun event.

"Another big benefit he is doing is at Victor's, in Hawthorne, on November 5th!  This is to raise money for breast cancer.  The funds will go directly to a single mom with 2 children to help cover the impending costs of treatment that is no longer available through insurance.

"Also, he is getting ready for an appearance on Hudson Valley's #1 radio station, WHUD's "Night Rhythms" with Catherine Michaels, 100.7FM, airing on Friday, 10/24!  The show runs from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday evenings.  Ms. Michaels will be interviewing him and playing one of his songs from "Just Gettin' Started."  I'm sure afterwards, we can call-in and request other songs to be played, as well!

"Finally, another one of his songs "Kiss Me Sweetly" is now on Z100's NEW! web channel and is currently in the top 173 on the chart of most played songs out of over 6,000 new indie artists!  Thank you so much for playing it and letting others know they can too!  The more plays it gets, the faster it moves up the chart and when it reaches the top 100, it will get aired live on NY's #1 radio station Z100!  Click here to listen and add plays: - - - - ->>>NEW! "Well, amongst all of this, he is still maintaining a full-time high-school schedule, preparing for college visits and playing shows with his brother, Joe, a couple times a week.  To say the least, his parents are proud of him.  Or, another way to put it.  They’ve been telling the world lately:  That's My Son!!!  LOL"
