What do motorbikes have to do with The Alive with Clive Top 20?

Turns out, quite a bit!

If you had asked me this question a few days ago, before I happened -- through an amazing serendipitous series of events -- to discover Richard Branson's Blog, my answer would have been absolutely nothing whatsoever.

But, oh, how mistaken I would have been!

3. Songs for the Inauguration

Like millions of others in America and around the world, I watched the inauguration of President Barack Obama this past Tuesday. In the days preceding his inauguration, you probably noticed, I recommended a couple of songs for the inauguration on my Blog by musicians who've been on Alive with Clive: One by Jeneen Terrana called My Creation and another by Joe Travers called Call It America. Now that the inauguration has taken place and we have heard President Obama's inauguration address, you might want to listen to these songs again to keep alive the spirit of his address and the inauguration. 4. Singles Who Care Benefit Featuring Cassandra Kubinski

Cassandra Kubinski, who is currently in 5th position on The Alive with Clive Top 20, will be one of three music performers at a dynamic event that has been created by Bill Scalzitti, the co-founder of www.romancebychoice.com, who will be a guest on Alive with Clive today, together with Marc Jones and Karl Schlegel, who were guests on Alive with Clive on July 11 last year.

The event is called Singles Who Care, and is taking place on Friday, January 30, from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. at:

In addition to three live musical performances by Cassandra, AYO and Hollywood Hangover, the event includes a free martini hour from 6.45 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. and two fashion shows, with music by DJ Jenn City. Guests will also receive gift bags and a free one-year subscription to Time Out New York Magazine

Date In The City Cares is a division of Date In The City whose mission is to work with the non-profit community. As part of Date in the City's commitment to opening up new possibilities for people all over the city in the area of their personal lives, Date In The City Cares is teaming up with The Food Bank For New York City to present an opportunity to mix and mingle for singles of all ages! Through the proceeds from ticket sales, their objective is to raise $10,000 to benefit The Food Bank For New York City.

5. What's Happening in The Alive with Clive Top 20

There has been no change in the order of the first seven contenders for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20. Anthony Melillo remains in first place with 1,553 votes followed by Irena Makarchuk with 1,519 votes. Joe Venice is third with 615 votes and Kylie Edmond is in fourth place with 405 votes.

Dan Sheehan overtook Alex P. Taylor to move into eighth place, and Markeisha Ensley moved ahead of Laura Monaco to claim 17th place.

6. News About Musicians Who've Been On Alive with Clive

Cassandra Kubinski will be performing at the Singles Who Care benefit on Friday, January 30, at The Taj Lounge in Chelsea (see above);

Joe Venice sang The National Anthem at Madison Square Garden this past Wednesday night before the start of the Knicks game!

Kylie Edmond has signed a publishing deal with Missing Link Music, which will promote her songs for TV/Film projects, as well as for other artists to sing. One of their major hits in 2008 was No Air with Jordin Sparks. Congratulations, Kylie!

Allison Scola became a contender for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20 after her interview on Alive with Clive on January 9, 2009, and will be performing at her party to celebrate the release of her brand new debut CD, A Braver Kind, at DROM, 85 Avenue A between 5th and 6th Streets, New York, NY 10009, on Saturday, January 31.
