1.  The Prose of Charles Dickens

While helping my youngest daughter to complete a college assignment during the past couple of weeks, my attention was directed to the following paragraph from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.  In light of the prevailing conversation about the economy and the state of the nation, I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you:

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way -- in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only." -- Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities (1812 -- 1870)

2.  What's Happening In The Alive with Clive Top 20

The latest Alive with Clive Top 20 Chart was posted on www.alivewithclive.tv earlier today.

Anthony Melillo, with the recent release of his debut CD, Just Gettin Started, and regular performances in Westchester, continues to own the Number One Position on the Chart.  With 2,200 votes at the moment, he now enjoys a lead of over 300 votes over Irena Hart, who also just released a new CD called Heartstrings.

Allison Scola, with the recent release of her debut CD, A Braver Kind, continues to be the fast new mover up the Chart.  Over the past couple of months, she has moved from "just getting started" to be in 13th position with 96 votes.  For more information about Allison, go to www.allisonscola.com and www.myspace.com/allisonscola.

Now, I have a prediction:  I have been monitoring the voting closely on a daily basis.  What I've noticed is that for weeks, musicians in the bottom third of the Chart, and on the outside looking in, have been able to languish with hardly any new votes and still remain in or near the Top 20.  But I'm sensing that all that is about to change.  Some of the newer musicians who have recently become contenders for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20 are seeing the benefits inherent in being included on the compilation CD I am creating and are becoming savvy about getting a lot of votes FAST!  So, now would be a good time for contenders and their fans to develop ways to boost votes in a hurry, or miss out on what might just be one of the most exciting ways to gain exposure to come down the pike in a long, long time.

3.  Madi Diaz Joins The 200-Plus Club

In The Alive with Clive TV Show MagEzine I distributed last week, I mentioned that so far only three of the 32 video clips I have posted on The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube at different times over the past six months are members of the 200-Plus Club.  Video clips in this Club have been seen over 200 times.

The video clip that has been seen the most is of Joe Venice singing Fall Apart, which has been 912 times!  Second is the video clip of Lisa Redford singing Live Your Life.  It's been seen 344 times.  Third is the video clip of Anthony Melillo singing Kiss Me Sweetly, The Alive with Clive Valentine's Day Love Song For 2009, which has been seen 237 times.

Over the past week, the 200-Plus Club gained a new member:  The video clip of Madi Diaz singing Canvas with Kyle Ryan and Adam Popick, which has now been seen 231 times.

Madi Diaz, now based in Nashville, Tennessee, has just commenced a month-long tour that includes a stop at The Living Room in Manhattan on Saturday, March 7, at 9 p.m.  For more information about Madi and her tour, go to www.madidiaz.com and www.myspace.com/madidiaz.
