1. Hello, Again, My Friends!
It's been quite a while since I published my last Ezine, and I hope you haven't missed it too much. A lot has been happening in the world of Alive with Clive, and I have a lot to report. If you're a friend of mine on Facebook and are on Facebook all the time, you've probably been able to gain some idea of what's been happening. And if you are not a friend of mine on Facebook yet, you'll find me there when you click here.
Before I get started filling you in on all the news, I want to take this opportunity to welcome all the new people I have met over the past several weeks, and all the new subscribers to this Ezine. It's great to be in communication with you and I look forward to creating a fulfilling and enriching relationship with you from now on.
I also want to begin by . . .
2. Reiterating The Mission of The Alive with Clive Top 20
The mission of The Alive with Clive Top 20 is to promote emerging and established musicians who have been interviewed on Alive with Clive, and harness their energy and talent to accomplish the following objectives:
-
Provide resources for suffering in the world to be alleviated;
-
Create an enhanced standard of living for as many people as possible; and
-
Inspire people to experience full self expression through self actualization.
In reading this Ezine today, and in following developments that will be reported in this Ezine, on my Blog and on Facebook and Twitter in the months ahead, you will learn about the actions that are being taken to accomplish this mission!
3. The Lazarus Effect, the Documentary Directed by Lance Bangs
Within the past three weeks, I noticed promotional announcements for the documentary called The Lazarus Effect, directed by Lance Bangs and presented by (RED) and HBO. The documentary reveals how people in Africa who are HIV positive are benefiting from taking two antiretroviral pills which cost 40 cents every day.
The documentary is available for viewing on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/joinred
I attended a special screening of the documentary at the Apple store in Soho on June 1, where I met the Director of the documentary, Lance Bangs, as well as Jenifer Willig, Global CMO of (RED), among others.
As a result of seeing this documentary, I am heartened by the improvements in health people taking these pills are experiencing, and am looking forward to raising additional funds through my plans so that more people affected by HIV/AIDS can receive these pills daily too.
To see my Blog post, "'The Lazarus Effect': Shining A Light On AIDS In Africa," in which I list Seven Startling Stats About AIDS In Africa, click here.
4. My Interview by Catherine Michaels on 100.7 WHUD
On June 27, I was interviewed by Catherine Michaels on her show, Night Rhythms, on 100.7 WHUD, Westchester and The Hudson Valley's Music Station, about my plans to turn votes for musicians to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20 into dollars from sales of the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa.
To listen to snippets of the interview, click here.
5. Michael Shilale, "Green-Building" Architect on Alive with Clive
On Alive with Clive, I recently interviewed Michael Shilale, an architect who is an expert on using cutting-edge technologies to design buildings so as to conserve our precious natural resources and nurture the planet. Michael has gone to great lengths to post both short segments of the interview as well as the entire interview in three parts on his Web site, www.shilale.com. To gain direct access to the interview, click here.
I recommend you watch the entire interview, which is both eye-opening and thought-provoking, to obtain an education about the impact buildings have on our environment and to increase your awareness of the consequences different choices made by architects have on energy costs and consumption.
6. The Launch of the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt
In case you don't already know, several weeks ago I designed a T-shirt, called the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt, and created a special page on my Web site to acknowledge and thank the people who ordered the first 25 so it could go into production.
I am thrilled to report that I ordered the first batch of "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirts on June 1 and expect to receive them within the next couple of days so I can mail or deliver them to my "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt launchers soon thereafter.
I am especially grateful to each and every one of the T-shirt launchers who stepped up to order a T-shirt. Thank you! Your support means the world to me! I can't wait to see you in your T-shirts and receive pictures of you wearing them -- front and back!
Click here to read about the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt launchers. Each and every one of them is an a-m-a-z-i-n-g person with unique gifts and talents!
If you're one of the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt launchers who qualified to receive free CDs, you should have received an email from me by now with a link to a form to let me know your CD preferences. If you haven't yet let me know your CD preferences, please take a moment now to fill out the form you'll find when you click here.
7. My New Book, Quotes To Multiply Your Magnificence
I've been collecting quotes for several years and they've been scattered in different places -- in file cabinets, notes in my journal, in email folders and in files with Word documents on my computers. On April 19, 2010, I made the decision and began to put them all in one place so I could refer to them often whenever I needed a dose of inspiration.
After a while, I thought the compilation would make a great bonus for everyone who orders an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt. But then, after spending many more days on the project, it occurred to me that the compilation I was creating was becoming far too valuable to simply give away. At first I was going to charge $14.97 for it, but after spending even more time working on it, and realizing I will continue to be updating it, I've now decided to charge $24.97 for it, and everyone who buys the digital version will get all future updates too.
There is, however, a happy ending, or rather a happy beginning, for you here, though, and as you'll see, it has everything to do with the word FREE!:
First, I decided to give the compilation, which I've called Quotes To Multiply Your Magnificence -- A Compilation of the Most Inspiring and Insightful Quotes of All Time! to every one of the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt launchers.
And, since the discounts I've described on my Web site for people who order an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt are not yet in place, I've decided to give away the compilation and all future updates FREE for a limited time to everyone who orders an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt now.
Quotes To Multiply Your Magnificence is divided into seven different chapters, has over 375 quotes and passages on over 85 pages, and it includes seven incredibly inspiring bonuses too.
You can read more about Quotes To Multiply Your Magnificence on my Blog when you click here and on the Home Page at www.multiplyyourmagnificence.com.
One of the best gifts I ever gave myself was to create this book of Quotes, because every time after I read it, any fears, uncertainties and doubts I might have been harboring simply evaporate!
As mentioned above, soon I will be charging at least $24.97 for this book, so if you want to get it and all future updates to it now FREE, click here to order an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt now.
8. The Quest To Find 12 Discount Providers
Now that the "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt is being launched and Quotes To Multiply Your Magnificence is not consuming as much of my time as it was, I've begun to focus my attention on obtaining discount providers for purchasers of an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt pursuant to The Alive with Clive Economic Stimulus Plan of 2010.
To implement the plan, I am seeking 12 corporations to provided discounts of $25 to purchasers of an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt who spend $100 or more with each discount provider. When the plan is fully in place, a person who orders an "I'm Alive with Clive" T-shirt for just under $25 (including shipping and handling) will qualify to receive discounts of $300 -- a 12 to 1 return!
I first issued a Press Release about The Alive with Clive Economic Stimulus Plan of 2010, which you can see when you click here, on March 18, 2010.
I recently issued another Press Release, which you can see when you click here, to make my plan known to more people. Now, I have set up a way for representatives of companies to bid to become discount providers, and I am looking forward to seeing how the bidding unfolds.
The first step for anyone interested in the bidding process is to visit this Web page:
http://alivewithclive.tv/discountbidding.htm
The ultimate objective is to turn votes for musicians to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20 into dollars for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa. So far, more than 23,700 votes have been cast for musicians to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20, and that number is increasing daily.
Ideally, as already mentioned on the page I'll be listing the discounts, which you'll see when you click here, I'd like corporations like Best Buy, Staples, Whole Foods, Gap, Target, Walmart, CVS, Duane Reade and others where people easily spend at least $100 at a time to be the discount providers. Airlines and hotels would also be perfect candidates to be discount providers. I listed a lot of names of corporations in the first Press Release I issued about my plan. To see that Press Release and all the companies I listed, click here.
If you are able to provide assistance to me in any way by referring me to people in corporations who'd be willing to participate in the bidding process I've created, please email this link to them and let me know that you have done so:
http://alivewithclive.tv/discountbidding.htm
Your assistance will be very much appreciated.
9. Waltz-Astoria's Ultimate Singer/Songwriter Contest II
On May 15, I had the pleasure of being one of the judges at The Second Ultimate Singer/Songwriter Contest hosted by Song and Pedro Gonzalez, who own Waltz-Astoria in Astoria, Queens, where the first Alive with Clive Top 20 concert, featuring Anthony Melillo and The Melillo Brothers, Serotonen and Jessica Labus was held in May last year.
It was a great experience for me and it gave me the opportunity to meet several more talented musicians.
I will be interviewing the winner of the contest, Cristina Kolitsopoulos, whose stage name is Criso Kardia, on Alive with Clive in July, and one of the other contestants, Steve Stavola, before the end of June. I have also already had the pleasure of interviewing another one of the contestants, the especially impressive Robinson Treacher, and so he is already a contender for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20.
Song and Pedro provide a wonderfully-supportive environment for singer songwriters at Waltz-Astoria. So I recommend you subscribe to their newsletter at www.waltz-astoria.com and become friends with them on Facebook, so you can keep up with all the shows they are hosting and see talented performers at their charming wine/desert bar.
10. The Latest Alive with Clive Guest Schedule
This past week, I updated The Alive with Clive Guest Schedule for 2010.

11. What's Happening in The Alive with Clive Top 20
Serotonen continues to be entrenched at the top of The Alive with Clive Top 20, ahead of Anthony Melillo and The Melillo Brothers and Irena Hart.
Dan Sheehan has overtaken Allison Scola to move into sixth place behind Joe Venice and Kylie Edmond, and Jason Gisser has moved ahead of Jessica Labus to claim 12th place.
Lisa Redford, Joe Travers, Jeneen Terrana and Cassandra Kubinski are in positions 8 through 11.
Among the singer/songwriters who have been interviewed on Alive with Clive in recent months, with consistent voting Robert Randall has already moved into 17th place behind Lisa Bianco after being a contender for a slot in The Alive with Clive Top 20 for no more than a couple of months. Congratulations, Robert!
Scott Krokoff, a fellow former tax lawyer who was on Alive with Clive on June 4, has made an explosive start in his vote-getting endeavors, and has already obtained over 45 votes, while Scott Urgola, who was on Alive with Clive on May 21, has also been receiving a consistent stream of votes over the past several days. Both are likely to be seen in The Alive with Clive Top 20 soon.
12. The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube
I recently added several new video clips featuring musicians who've been on Alive with Clive to The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube.
The newest video clips added feature Robert Randall, Anna Troy, Kylie Edmond, Jessica Labus, Craig Wilson, Anna Zoe, Julia Ilowiecki, Lisa Bianco, Jason Gisser, and Craig Greenberg.
On The Alive with Clive TV Channel on YouTube, you'll see many phenomenal songs being performed by some of the most exciting emerging singer/songwriters of our time. In fact, you can create your own concert any time of the day or night from among the more than 75 video clips that are now available for viewing, see snippets of interviews about the songs and get to know the musicians who sing the songs, without leaving your home -- and best of all, it's FREE! That's a deal that is hard to beat!

13. Ariel Hyatt's Request For Sweet Relief Musicians Fund
For those of you who don't know Ariel Hyatt, she is the Queen of Cyber PR, as well as the author of an especially helpful book for musicians called Music Success In Nine Weeks -- A Step-By-Step Guide To Supercharging Your PR, Building Your Fan-base and Earning More Money. She was also a guest on Alive with Clive in 2008. I have been to several of her events and have learned a tremendous amount from her about helping musicians to promote themselves.
In her "Cyber PR Presents Sound Advice -- Tips from Ariel Publicity" Ezine I received from her last week, she made the following request, which I have included in full below:
Will You Help Me Save the lives of Musicians in Need?
I love making a difference. When musicians come up to me at conferences or at gigs and say "Thanks for writing your book, it really helped me learn how to market and promote myself more effectively." Or, They say: "I read your articles online and they really help me and my band." It makes my day.
So, when my former housemate (and GM of the Fox Theatre in Boulder CO) Bill Bennett called me last year and asked me to be on the board of Sweet Relief, a charity I have long admired I jumped at the chance.
It's all over the news these days: Approximately 15% of Americans are without health insurance, but when it comes to musicians that number sadly exceeds 45%; and that when faced with a medical emergency or disabling event there are very few resources for support that a musician can turn to. Since 1993 Sweet Relief Musicians Fund has been a strong and steady resource for professional musicians struggling with illness, disability or age related problems; but they can't do it alone and the shrinking economy has made it that much harder for them to help (read: fewer people are donating individually).
So, I would like to ask you for a favor today and for the month of June.
It will take less than 30 seconds of each day and you will help save the lives of musicians in need.
Sweet Relief has qualified for the Pepsi Refresh Project. During the month of June they will be competing for one of ten $50,000 grants with the winners being determined by number of votes. Participants can vote once per day until June 30th. By visiting http://pep.si/dctvQF and voting, you'll be helping to preserve one of the few resources that a professional musician can turn to for support when there is no place else to go.
As a thank you in return I offer you a copy of my ebook the Recession Proof Musician so that you will never have to be faced with the problem of having to turn to a charity for medical help.
1. Vote for Sweet Relief (every day if you can) and spread the word via Twitter, FB, MySpace.
2. Download The Recession Proof Musician from me to you. Thanks for making a difference.
I have voted more than once already and urge you to vote as well. And, remember, download Ariel's ebook, Recession Proof Musician, after you have voted, too.
14. Anne Court's Trip To Kenya For Habitat For Humanity
A few days ago, I received an email from a friend of mine, Anne Court, to tell me she is taking unpaid leave to go to Kenya from August 7 to 18 this year to build a house with Habitat for Humanity for someone who needs it. To make the trip, she must cover her airfare, which is more than $1,000 and by June 24 raise $1,920, which is paid to Habitat, for the costs of such items as her housing, food, transportation in Kenya, and travel insurance.
To find out more about Anne at her Web site, click here.
To see her page at Habitat for Humanity to learn more about her trip, click here.
She has also since sent a moving video clip you'll see when you click here to those who have made contributions to the fund for her trip.
If you feel so inclined, please click here to make a contribution to Anne for her trip, even if it's just a dollar. Your support will be very much appreciated.
