Just Released: Corey Lewin’s Dynamic Cover of Andy Grammer’s Latest Hit, “Give Love,” – with a Loop Pedal Addition Probably Inspired by Ed Sheeran – Mashed Up with John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change!”
The announcement by Corey Lewin, a recent guest on Alive with Clive, about the impending release of his next cover on YouTube was made with this creative and innovative auspicious post on Instagram:
A post shared by Corey Lewin (@coreylewinmusic) on
The next day, it appeared, and here it is:
For this version, Corey replaced the bridge performed in the original by LunchMoney Lewis with piece from John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change” – thus adding an interesting contrasting dimension to the song.
Here is the original video for “Give Love”:
And here are the lyrics:
Lyrics to 'Give Love' by Andy Grammer ft. LunchMoney Lewis
Andy Grammer ft. LunchMoney Lewis | “Give Love”
[Andy Grammer:]
My, my, my mother was a sunshine soldier
Every day was a dream come true
She said that we were blessed by the breath deep inside us
She could make the colors in the sky turn blue
She said, “Honey, what you gonna do today?
You’re second guessing every single move you make
You’re definitely gonna have some very hard days
But I’ll be right here for you”
And she said: “Before I go
There is one thing you should know:”
“I give love to all of my people
All of my people need love, I give some
I give love to all of my people
All of my people need love, I give some
I give love to all of my people
All of my people need love, I give some
‘Cause in the end, the love we take’s
Got nothing on the love we make
So give love
So give love
So give love”
She, she said, “You’re gonna be a light in a cold world
You got extra love pumping up your veins”
To my people feeling down and my people feeling empty
I got so much of this love, I gotta give it away
“Hey, honey, what you gonna do today?
You’re second guessing every single move you make
You’re definitely gonna have some very hard days
But I’ll be right here for you”
And she said: “Before I go
There is one thing you should know:”
[Andy Grammer (LunchMoney Lewis):]
“I give love to all of my people
All of my people need love, I give some
I give love to all of my people
All of my people need love, I give some
I give love to all of my people
All of my people need love, I give some
‘Cause in the end, the love we take’s
Got nothing on the love we make
So give love (Yuh)
So give love (Andy, you know I got you!)
So give love (Yeah, yeah)”
[LunchMoney Lewis:]
Put this on repeat, it’s so elementary
This that 1 + 1 is 2, you sprinkle love, that equal 3
Maybe that’s the remedy, blind man, he can even see
If you wanna cook it up, well, then I know the recipe
It’s the L-O-V-E, (ah) now you see me (right)
Down the avenue, they hate I’m throwing the peace sign
That my own reply, you know I don’t even try
Yeah, I give that love, I get that love, I know the reason why
[Andy Grammer:]
Here is the original video for “Waiting on the World to Change”:
And here are the lyrics:
Lyrics to 'Waiting on the World to Change' by John Mayer
John Mayer | “Waiting on the World to Change”
One, two, one, two, three
Me and all my friends
We’re all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There’s no way we ever could
Now we see everything that’s going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It’s hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
That’s why we’re waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It’s not that we don’t care
We just know that the fight ain’t fair
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
That’s why we’re waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
And we’re still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
No we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change.
Here’s another exceptionally creative post on Instagram of a snippet of Corey’s cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Happier”:
When Corey was on Alive with Clive, he mentioned that Ed Sheeran has had a big influence on his music, and so the loop pedal addition to Corey’s cover of “Give Love” was probably inspired by Ed Sheeran.
