If you didn’t know how old they are, you’d think they are much older!
That’s what is likely to occur for you after you see Gilbert – the band, the band with five immensely-talented teenage musicians, perform!
As lead vocalist, Tara Curran adroitly carries the baton passed on from such rock n’roll luminaries as Janis Joplin and Pat Benatar, accompanied by other members of the band — Justin Giacchetto on electric guitar, Wilson Yarnall on bass, Eddie Fiscella on keys and Owen Hughes on drums.
After these teenagers performed together in different school programs and at programs arranged by The Justin Veach Fund over the past few years, they decided to keep what they had created in existence through the formation of Gilbert – the band early in 2016.
Since then Gilbert has been performing mostly classic rock/soul/funk covers interspersed with a few of their own original songs and has appeared at several prestigious venues, including the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater in Peekskill for The Justin Veach Fund, The Winery at St. George in Mohegan Lake and The Towne Crier in Beacon. They’ve also been on a live broadcast at Pawling Public Radio and won the Ridgefield Bandjam earlier this year.
What is especially noteworthy and appealing about Gilbert – the band is that in their songs the band has crafted almost to perfection a balance between loud and soft, between intense and soothing, and between phases in songs when Tara sings and when only the sounds of the music generated by the other band members are heard – allowing for the talent of each band member to be expressed and appreciated.
During Gilbert – the band’s appearance on Alive with Clive, which occurred thanks to an introduction from Thom Ianniccari, a devoted nurturer of young music talent who has been on the Board of The Justin Veach Fund, the band performed these three original songs: “Wolf Magnet,” “Way Back When” and “Juicing the Swine.”
While the five teenage musicians make up the fundamental core of the band, it sure does take a village for the creation of a band like Gilbert – the band, and here’s a picture taken on the set of Alive with Clive that includes the members of the band as well as their supportive parents who were in the studio to watch the show and act as roadies for the transportation and set up of the band’s equipment.
When you see Gilbert – the band on Alive with Clive, you’re sure to be impressed by all facets of their performance and agree that for the band the future is bright!
