On Alive with Clive, Markeisha Ensley Radiates Poise, Grace, Elegance and Excellence with Songs from Her Heart!

Combining the flavors of gospel, jazz and soul as her sultry voice melts over soaring melodies, in another two recent appearances on Alive with Clive Markeisha Ensley showed us how she strikes an uplifting groove with her distinctive piano-playing flair, and graces the stage with her powerful presence.

Markeisha is an international recording artist who has been described as a cross between Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder and will most definitely remind you of Whitney Houston.

In 2011 she received the prestigious Abe Olman Scholarship Award for Excellence in Songwriting, which has also previously been awarded to John Legend, from the Songwriters Hall of Fame/Songwriters Guild of America.

In addition, Markeisha is a proud member of LIFEBeat’s Hearts and Voices Program, bringing the healing power of music to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Markeisha followed up her first appearance on Alive with Clive on April 24, 2008, and her second appearance on April 3, 2012, with another two shows on February 10, 2017, superbly accompanied by guitarist, Bruce Gordon, during which they performed these songs:

3rd Show 4th Show
  1. “Water”
  2. “There’s No Yesterday”
  3. “Meet You In My Dreams”
  1. “Dizzy”
  2. “Talk To Me”
  3. “Yes”

Not shy about letting us into the inner world of her heart and mind, in “There’s No Yesterday” Markeisha sings about her declaration to walk away from a failing relationship, and in “Water” she sings about grappling with the issues that arise in a developing relationship.

“Meet You In My Dreams” is a love song of a different sort – a song dedicated to the memory of her late father with whom she communicates in the song and in her dreams.

While “Talk To Me,” the title track from the EP that follows the release in 2006 of her debut album, Ready, is a song about being caught in a swirl of romance and enchantment, “Dizzy” is a phenomenal song in which Markeisha shares how she simply can no longer resist the temptation to fall in love, notwithstanding a firm resolution to refrain from doing so – with “Yes” being the culmination of that development.

During her 3rd Show, Markeisha gave us insights into how she landed the role to star in Little Girl Blue, a new concert drama about the life of legendary international recording artist and civil rights activist, Nina Simone, and in her 4th Show, Markeisha shared interesting tidbits about appearances in Japan, Paris and the Philippines.

Here is the trailer for Little Girl Blue, which also stars pianist, vocalist and rising thespian Bijan Miarra Shaw, presented by Cheyenne Covington:
